Man Utd defender to join Benfica this month?
Manchester United defender Alvaro Fernandez could be on his way to Benfica on a permanent basis this month, according to Record.
The left-back is currently on loan with Granada in the Spanish top-flight, but he has played just over 600 minutes in all competitions for them.
The club are in a relegation battle and there is a possibility that United could recall the Spaniard and send him out of loan to another outfit.
Amidst this, it is claimed that Benfica are exploring a deal for his services and they are prepared to pay around €7 million to land his signature.
The Portuguese champions are willing to sell David Jurasek to recoup funds and believe Fernandez has the potential to become a regular starter.
United have not made any decision over their graduate yet, but they are likely to sanction his sale this year with his contract expiring in 2025.
Fernandez has no plans to renew amid his lack of chances. The youngster has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Red Devils.
