Man Utd striker set to undergo surgery for hip problem
Manchester United have suffered an unexpected blow with Anthony Martial set to undergo a surgery for a hip problem.
The Frenchman has played second fiddle to
Rasmus Hojlund up front this term and he has largely featured off the bench.
Over the past seven weeks, Martial has not played any part with manager Erik ten Hag clarifying that he is ill and unfit.
This has now been dismissed by his agent, who has revealed that the Frenchman has been nursing a hip problem.
He added that Martial will undergo a small operation for the same and will spend the rest of the campaign with the club.
The news is a huge blow for United, who are currently lacking a striker to compete with Hojlund for the number nine role.
Martial has not been playing at his best this campaign, but he has the knack of finding the back of the net when in form.
He could now be sidelined for the remainder of the season. He could leave on a free with his contract expiring in June.
