Arsenal set to hand new contract to key midfielder
Arsenal are expected to hand a new contract to midfielder Jorginho amid his impressive performances this season, according to Football Insider.
The Italian joined the Gunners from Chelsea during the 2023 January transfer window and he has since been a valuable player in the squad.
The 32-year-old has stood out in the big games with his ball control and the Gunners are keen to reward him with a fresh contract soon.
Jorginho's current deal expires at the end of June. Arsenal have a one-year option, but they prefer to negotiate a new deal on fresh terms.
The experienced ace will be offered a contract until June 2026 with an option for another year. There could be a promise of a coaching role too.
Regardless of this, the Gunners are expected to sign another marquee midfielder with Thomas Partey touted to leave the club soon.
The Ghanaian has had an injury-plagued season with the Gunners. The club are prepared to sanction his sale when the transfer window reopens.
