Man Utd reveal their stance on buying Branthwaite
Manchester United have made it clear that they won't pay over the odds to sign Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite this summer, according to The Star.
The Englishman is one of the best young centre-backs in the Premier League and he has been touted for a bigger challenge elsewhere.
United are one of his main admirers, but The Star claim that the hierarchy won't be held to ransom in the pursuit of his services.
The Red Devils are currently reluctant to pay over £60m for the defender, but the Toffees are holding out for at least £80m for him.
Should Everton maintain their stance going forward, United could turn their attention to alternative options in the coming weeks.
Juventus' Gleison Bremer is highly appreciated by the club while Crystal Palace 's Marc Guehi is also being considered by them.
United want to complete most of their transfer business in pre-season such that the manager has enough time to prepare with his squad.
