Man Utd planning surprise swoop for Brazilian striker?
Manchester United could make a late approach to sign Santos striker Marcos Leonardo, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Red Devils have already signed Rasmus Hojlund to bolster their attack this summer, but he has yet to make his debut.
Hojlund arrived at the club with a back concern, and United don't want to rush him. His first appearance could come next month.
Amidst this, it is reported that the Red Devils are interested in signing Leonardo, and are ready to pay €25m including add-ons.
Roma are also keen on the highly-rated Brazilian, but they are currently prioritising a loan deal for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku .
Leonardo has netted 16 goals and provided another four assists for Santos this term. He was also impressive at the Under-20 World Cup.
The 20-year-old scored five goals and registered an assist from five caps for Brazil. He has the traits to develop into a top-class striker.
Leonardo would be a good back-up striker to Hojlund at United. His arrival could pave the way for Anthony Martial 's exit from Old Trafford.
