Man Utd preparing to sell young defender to Benfica?
Manchester United are preparing to sanction the departure of Alvaro Fernandez to Benfica in the coming days, according to A Bola.
The Spaniard is presently on a season-long loan deal at Granada where he has played just over 500 minutes of first-team football thus far.
He has been a regular substitute for the struggling La Liga outfit and COPE claim that United are planning to trigger a break clause.
On his return, the club are planning to sell him on a permanent basis to Benfica, who are prepared to pay in the region of €7 million.
The final fee could be lesser if Benfica include a sell-on clause.
Fernandez's current contract with the Red Devils concludes next summer, and the club have not activated a 12-month extension clause.
The left-back is likely to accept the proposal from Benfica, who are willing to hand him regular game time as David Jurasek will be sold.
Aside from Fernandez, United are also expected to announce the loan exit of Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund in the next few days.
