Man Utd to open contract talks with teenage prodigy
Manchester United are expected to open contract talks with wonderkid Kobbie Mainoo amid his wonderful breakthrough season.
The 18-year-old had a good start to the pre-season campaign with the Red Devils, but he got himself injured after a freak incident against Real Madrid.
As a result, Mainoo had to wait until late November to make his full Premier League debut, but he has since become a mainstay under Erik ten Hag.
The youngster has looked matured beyond his years and he is currently an assured starter and may not be displaced anytime soon.
It is now reported by Fabrizio Romano that United are set to discuss fresh terms for the youngster, who is one of the lowest earners.
Mainoo currently earns only £10,000 per week and he is likely to be handed at least £50,000 weekly if he agrees to a fresh extension.
The club could also add some clauses into his contract whereby his salary could increase over the coming seasons with achievements.
