Man Utd looking into surprise deal for Porto left-back
Manchester United are reportedly looking into a surprise deal for Porto left-back Wendell this summer.
The Red Devils currently have
Luke Shaw and
Tyrell Malacia as their specialist left-backs, but both are injured at the moment.
Shaw is anticipated to return before the end of the campaign, but Malacia may not make an appearance this term due to a nagging knee issue.
Malacia could return by pre-season, but the hierarchy are expected to enter the transfer market for an experienced left-back this summer.
Wendell has been identified as an option. The 30-year-old is currently in his third season at Porto where he has made 27 appearances.
He recently starred in both legs of the Champions League round of 16 against Arsenal where he managed to keep Bukayo Saka quiet.
The Brazilian has the credentials to succeed in the Premier League and he could be signed for a reasonable transfer figure this summer.
A package of around €5m could be sufficient to convince Porto.
